      • Firefly Receives New ATR Aircraft
      • Firefly received its eighth ATR 72-500 aircraft last week at Skypark Airport, Terminal 3. The ninth one will be subsequently delivered as planned on 27 Dec and another in January 2011. Entry into service will be one month from delivery date upon thorough pre-service check. This brings Firefly’s total turboprop fleet size to ten.The additional aircraft will be used to strengthen Firefly’s current network footprint through increased frequency for high demand sectors and reinstatement of some Penang based routes that were previously suspended as a result of a network rationalisation due to unfavourable economic conditions.In a statement released, Managing Director Dato’ Eddy Leong said that on top of the three aircraft, Firefly is negotiating for additional four ATR72-500s to be delivered in 2011/12 to fuel its expansion into more secondary routes.Firefly operates a fleet of seven brand new ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft, which in 2011 will increase to a total of 10 aircraft.

      • On 29 December 2010, ; Delta Air Lines will reinstate codeshare flights operated by SkyTeam ; partner Aeromexico following the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's ; (FAA) decision to upgrade to Category 1 the rating of Mexico's federal ; civil aviation authority. This rating is required to allow codesharing ; by any U.S.-based airline on another international airline's flights.
