      • Countries commit to new Silk Road tourism plan
      • Countries on the ancient Silk Road have committed to greater cooperation to achieve the objectives laid out in the Silk Road Action Plan. Agreed at the first UNWTO Silk Road Ministers’ Summit, held at ITB Berlin last week, the collaborative agreement will is intended to advance tourism development across 25 countries in Asia, Europe and North Africa.

      • Strong 2010 tourism numbers in Asia: PATA
      • The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has hailed preliminary figures reporting record growth of tourist arrivals into the Asia-Pacific region.
        Agence France-Presse reported on Tuesday the region took in an 11 per cent increase in arrivals last year, according to PATA’s preliminary figures, with 2011 expected to continue the trend.
